The engine didn't change. They changed the paint color on the valve cover, clutch cover, and stator color to black in the US from 2004 - 2007. There was an overseas model with a solid black engine.
I plan to use this bike on my 10 mile commute and in colder weather my hands seem to go numb. Went for oxford hot grips and they seem okay. The connectors are absolute dirt and I might just solder the connections. The little controller module sits quite nicely I think so happy enough overall for £50.
